Another winner by Dan! It makes me think about our time and what goes on with drugs in so many lives! It also makes me,think about the entry drug, marijuana! I'm sure that the evil one wants nothing more than to have people living their lives in a stupor not based in reality, which leads to even more damaging drugs. The evil one's influence is all around and, I believe, can be the reason for so many of the weird and heinous things that are happening and we read about everyday in the newspapers! We need to turn back to a loving God who wants the best for us, not a life based in abuse of drugs!Tags : Pharmakeia (The Royal Oak Series of Spiritual Thrillers Book 2) - Kindle edition by Dan Calabrese. Pharmakeia The Royal Oak Series of Spiritual Thrillers Book 2 edition by Dan Calabrese Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
This is a good book in the 3 book series by Dan Cal Abrese. It concerns the dark forces that fight against the biblical forces in our world whether we are aware of it or not. I recommend it highly.
Wow, this book talks about things I've never thought of before. A great read. And the ending is a big surprise.
Very entertaining but somewhat simplistic regarding spiritual warfare. Also the theology is not sound. Our breastplate of righteousness is our position in Christ and not based on our good or bad works but on the work that Christ did on the cross which never varies in our lives once we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
I would have gone with a 4, except that I found several typos in the text which I thought that professional editing should have caught.
I thought that, even though it was a good read, and I wanted to find out what was going to happen next ( a real litmus test of any novel), some of the story was a based a little more on speculation and opinion than scripture. That said, some of those things COULD be that way, but we don't know exactly from scripture (at least my understanding). Certainly scripture teaches us that our enemy is not flesh and blood, and we need to be reminded of this often. There is surely a connection between pharmakeia and sorcery or other demonic activities, too, which Calabrese certainly illustrates with his story. Yes a little literary license is acceptable for a work of this nature, and I appreciate that they are available (I read the ebook).
I read the whole series in about a week and a half. These were very good books. As a believer of many years I was certainly aware of spiritual warfare and had seen many examples of demonic activity in the lives of loved ones. How interesting to read about an individual who can actually see this activity. In these times in which we are living it is conceivable that such individuals may even already exist. Thank you, Mr. Calabrese, also for portraying "baby" Christians in a real way. Probably would not recommend this series to children or anyone suffering serious mental illness, but it's great and thought provoking.
Love this series, glad that Jesus is the reason. I know the author said it will be written in language that is the real deal with all, and I don't doubt he's right. I'm still trying to keep my cursing curbed. Tough. I tried to get past it, but at times it was a tad over the top. Otherwise, great characters, great story and I loved all three.
This is the second of the trilogy that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like Dan I lived in Northern Detroit near State Fair and Oakland and I can identify with so much of what Dan has written and terms of geography and landmarks. I went to Cass Tech and graduated in 52 on my way to the university of Miami. In fact my parents moved to Grosse Pointe Shores when I went away to college and the characters in this novel were racing up-and-down right in front of the house where they once lived. Of course neither of them are no longer there since they passed away in the 80s. Dan has put a face on the spirit world and this gives a new dimension to their activities. While the Scriptures discuss demon activity and some of their characteristics they do not begin to describe their physical characteristics as Dan has done. I think that we forget that there is a spiritual warfare going around us all of the time and if we were like Elisha and could see those surrounding him in preparation for a victory we might begin to appreciate how they can help us in these latter days. As of the scriptures say I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. If we really took this to heart we could conquer a lot of the problems we face daily. Well done Dan I am certainly looking forward to the third volume.
